Analyst/Senior Analyst, Portfolio Strategy & Management at Liberty Mutual


We are currently seeking a candidate for an Analyst/Senior Investment Analyst position on the Portfolio Strategy and Management (“PS&M”) team within Global Partnerships and Innovation Division. This is a pre-MBA position where the individual will be exposed to the private investment platform, including each of our asset class sleeves (currently inclusive of private equity, real estate, direct lending and distressed and energy transition and infrastructure) as well as working across the full investment organization. The PS&M team partners with GPI leadership and across asset class sleeves to drive value by leading overall portfolio strategy, analyzing innovative investment trends and opportunities and supporting the transition to analytics driven decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with all private investment asset classes and across LMI to drive value added analysis, reporting and process improvement
  • Continuous focus on improving existing processes and challenging status quo
  • Effectively and consistently communicate across GPI, LMI and LMG, looking for new ways to support innovation, critical thinking and execution of GPI’s mandate
  • Contribute to the development of a best-in-class portfolio management platform, fully integrating key systems and empowering the development of insights that drive alpha
  • Partner with portfolio managers to develop and refine their asset class strategies
  • Lead and contribute to innovation and thought leadership efforts, including thematic research, high level diligence and investment recommendations
  • Identify key portfolio areas requiring deeper analytics and collaborate with various teams to drive analytics and generate actionable insights
  • Play an active role in the modernization of GPI’s technology platform underpinned by enterprise cloud adoption
  • Support the evolution of management reports, including quarterly results, plan/forecasting, capital and liquidity monitoring, risk metrics, portfolio composition and pipeline
  • The role will include up to 10% travel

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a leading institution
  • 1-4 years related work experience (prior experience in private investments, investment banking, or consulting is preferred)
  • Strong Excel modelling skills and solid base in accounting and finance
  • Experience in systems /data / tools / visualization / platforms, preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (written / verbal / presentation)
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and time-sensitive deliverables with a high degree of quality and accuracy
