Oticon is a well-established, international company, improving the life quality of people with a hearing disability worldwide. Our R&D department embraces the whole circle of development in-house, also including the development of our own chipsets. About 1200 people are working from our headquarters, and we have about 2000 colleagues at our production site in Poland and 13.000 in other sites around the world.
In this job, you will be part of Oticon’s group for Hardware Acoustics and Mechanics in Smørum, close to Copenhagen. We are part of the Hardware function and focus on the development of new multiple brand platforms. Overall, we are about 50 highly skilled colleagues with mechanical and electro-acoustic backgrounds. Our goal is to deliver discreet industry leading hearing healthcare platforms through increased specialization and strategic reuse.
We challenge conventional solutions to enhance both end-user and customer satisfaction. We work all the way from the early concept phases to final introduction to production. We focus on optimizing the parts for production in a close dialogue with the tool designers and process engineers. We make sure that all parts and the documentation is in the right condition to transfer the platform from R&D to production. Your stakeholders will be employees dealing with the electro acoustical design, electronics design, audiology, production, FEM simulations, Industrial designers and marketing.
Putting your own fingerprint on our projects
You can look forward to putting your own fingerprint on new and running projects. As an experienced Mechanical Developer, you do in depth mechanical design in delivery teams of circa 6 people, ensuring the right quality and maturity at the right time.
Your daily work tasks include
- Mechanical development in new and running projects
- Idea and concept development
- Specifying, designing and documenting mechanical components
- Supporting the project manager in planning the daily project activities
- Planning and executing design reviews including documentation
- Specifying requirements for new projects
- Transferring projects from development to production
You will be working closely together with engineers specialized in amplifiers, tooling and operations. You will work in cross-disciplinary projects utilizing Oticon´s own prototype center with RPT technology and facilities for making micro-mechanical prototypes. Regarding travelling can you expect 10-20 travel days a year, visiting suppliers and our production site in Poland.
Your experience as Mechanical Developer
We expect you to have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant subject and a minimum of 2-4 years of work experience within designing mechanical solutions. Your experience may cover areas like:
- Mechanical development and design within medical- or small consumer electronic devices
- ME integration of electronics design (PCB, connectors, batteries, radios etc.)
- Robust design (Tolerance, DFM, DFA)
- Experience with PTC Creo is an advantage
- Mechanical simulation using for example Ansys
You have an analytical mindset and a big interest in technical challenges. Furthermore, you are a curious team player and like to work in cross-professional development teams, motivated by product development with a clear focus on customer needs. You are used to deliver quality solutions on time and thrive in a busy environment navigating among many stakeholders. And last, we expect you to be fluent in English, as this is our company language.
